Matthew A. Cohen, MD Director, Reproductive Endocrinology Director Donor Egg Program

Matthew A. Cohen, MD is the Director of the Donor Egg Program and Director of Reproductive Endocrinology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center is a graduate of Columbia College and received his Medical Degree from the Yale University School of Medicine.

While at Yale, he spent his last 18 months of training doing intensive research at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Cape Cod; the Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem; and the Israel Institute of Biology.

He completed his OB/GYN residency at Harvard University and his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at Columbia University. He is the author of numerous research papers in the fields of physiology and reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Cohen is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine at Hofstra University.

Dr. Cohen has a special interest in Jewish law as it relates to menstruation and sexual relations within marriage- known as taharat hamishpacha (family purity) or the laws of nidda. He attended Yeshiva from nursery through high school, with an additional year in an Israeli Yeshiva prior to attending college. During his years as an undergraduate, he spent his summers studying with rabbinical students from Yeshiva University, and has served as a course director for an international symposium in Jerusalem on women's health and Jewish law.

Dr. Matthew Cohen was featured in a Bloomberg article entitled: "Fertility Treatment Success Predicted With Computer Analysis, Study Says."  Dr. Cohen provided his opinion of a study investigating a computer-based analysis that estimates a woman’s chance of success with IVF based on her height, weight, hormonal factors and the health of embryos.
