Removal of Uterine Fibroids

Myomectomy is the removal of a uterine fibroid or myoma. Uterine fibroids can cause infertility or lead to reproductive health problems including pelvic pain or excessive bleeding. Large uterine fibroids are removed through an abdominal incision and typically require a hospital stay of two to three days. Recovery may take is several weeks. Precise and advanced surgical techniques are used to decrease of scar tissue formation which can hinder fertility.

Smaller fibroids that are located within the uterine cavity can be removed through the cervix by operative hysteroscopy. This is an ambulatory procedure and patients may frequently be able to return to work the following day.
